Environment, Health & Safety
Arizona Mining Inc. places concern for the environment, health and safety of our employees and the communities in which we work at the forefront of our policies and decisions. We are committed to providing products and services that are environmentally sound throughout their life cycle. All aspects of our business will be managed in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
Being environmentally conscious is part of our commitment to operate in a safe and socially responsible manner. We are continually motivated to manage our natural resources carefully, strive to minimize our environmental footprint, and to ensure that the safety and environmental well-being of the area in which we operate is at the forefront of our planning and performance. In January 2016, we acquired the Trench property from the ASARCO Multi-State Environmental Custodial Trust. This acquisition provides us with the opportunity to remedy legacy, on-site water issues by treating the low pH water drainage from the January Mine Adit and historic tailing piles before it enters the surface water. Remediating impacts from historic mining activities is an example of our commitment to environmental stewardship.
Supplying adequate lighting is crucial to the safety of our employees, especially those working through the night. Because we are lighting a previously unlit area, we have developed lighting strategies to reduce the ecological consequences this may have on nocturnal wildlife by directing our light sources downward and diffusing brightness to the safest levels possible.
