Richard Warke is a Vancouver based mining executive and the Chairman of Arizona Mining Inc., an exploration and development company based in Canada. The company’s world class Taylor Deposit is a zinc-lead-silver carbonate deposit that is being aggressively drilled.
Alongside Arizona Mining, Richard Warke currently serves as Executive Chair of NewCastle Gold Ltd., a company focused on exploring its multi-million ounce gold deposit in California.
These businesses are part of the Augusta Group of Companies, a conglomerate that Richard founded in 2006 and comprised of Arizona Mining, NewCastle Gold Ltd. and Armor Minerals.
Richard has been responsible for the founding and success of several resource companies in the past. Previously in the Augusta Group was Augusta Resource Corporation, which sold for roughly $666 million in 2014, and Ventana Gold Corporation, which sold in 2011 for approximately $1.5 billion. With more than 25 years of experience in the mining industry, Richard has been instrumental in raising over $1 billion dollars in equity for resource companies. Although his endeavors have primarily concentrated in the area of mining, Richard has also been involved with oil and gas, forestry, technology and manufacturing operations.
Richard Warke has established himself as a diligent and hardworking entrepreneur who is able to build successful and efficient mining operations. In addition, he is a sought-after voice in the mining industry who is often called upon by the media to offer industry guidance and expertise.
During a 2014 interview, when asked about what he has learned from his time in mining, Richard explained the importance of surrounding himself with like-minded, hard-working colleagues. “Like any business you cannot succeed unless you have a first class dedicated management team,” Richard explained. “People who know their craft and are not afraid to work together for a common cause. There is no doubt that any successes I have had would not have been possible without a full team effort.”
He is also outspoken on the topic of due diligence in regards to mining endeavors and advises those looking to expand into the sector to work in countries that have a positive attitude toward mining initiatives. Richard also reminds those within the industry to choose locations in jurisdictions that are politically stable.

Mr. Gowans was formerly Co-President of Barrick Gold Corporation from July 2014 to August 2015 and Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer from January to July 2014. Recent prior roles include Managing Director of Debswana Diamond Company (Pty) Ltd., President and Chief Executive Officer of De Beers Canada Inc., Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President of International Nickel Indonesia tbk PT and Executive Vice President at Placer Dome Inc. Mr. Gowans has more than 30 years of experience in mineral exploration, mine feasibility studies, opening new mines (including Red Dog and Polaris), commissioning mine expansions and in the development of best practices in mine safety, mine operations and economic performance improvement. Mr. Gowans is a Professional Engineer and received a bachelor of applied science degree in mineral engineering from the University of British Columbia and attended the Banff School of Advanced Management.
Donald R. Taylor
Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Taylor has more than 25 years of mineral exploration experience with precious and base metals on five continents, taking projects from exploration to mine development. He has worked extensively for large and small cap companies, including BHP Minerals, Bear Creek Mining, American Copper and Nickel, Doe Run Resources, and Westmont Mining Company. Mr. Taylor has a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from Southeast Missouri State University and a Master of Science degree from University of Missouri at Rolla. He is a Licensed Professional Geologist in several eastern and western states and a qualified person as defined by National Instrument 43-101.
Paul J. Ireland
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Ireland is a Chartered Accountant with extensive financial experience in the mining and forestry sectors. He is currently Chief Financial Officer for both Arizona Mining and Newcastle Gold Ltd. Prior to joining Arizona Mining in December 2009, he was CFO and Corporate Secretary for Western Forest Products Inc. where he was responsible for finance, treasury, IT, procurement and public filings. He was also previously VP Finance at Diavik Diamond Mines Inc., a division of Rio Tinto, from 2002 to 2004 during the start-up of the Diavik diamond mine. Mr. Ireland has successfully negotiated significant debt refinancings and raised new equity capital. Mr. Ireland was also the CFO for Ventana Gold Corp. prior to its acquisition.
Gregory F. Lucero
Vice President, Community and Government Affairs
Mr. Lucero has more than 20 years of management experience in both the public and private sector, as well as an extensive background in the executive government working for local, state, and federal elected officials. Prior to joining Arizona Mining, Mr. Lucero was most recently the County Manager for Santa Cruz County in Arizona, where he also served as the chief lobbyist for the County at the state legislature and US Congress. Prior to that, Mr. Lucero held various positions with Sunrise Engineering. Mr. Lucero holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Arizona.
Vice President, Corporate Secretary
Ms. Parikh has 22 years of experience in business administration. She has a Certificate in Business from the University of Toronto and has completed coursework at Simon Fraser University and other institutions in various areas including: business management, organizational behavior, marketing, securities, computer science and software and web design. In 1999, Ms. Parikh obtained a Gemology degree with honors ranking second in Canada and is now a fellow of Gemological Associations in Canada and Great Britain and an associate member of the Gemological Institute of America. She holds an honours certificate in the Canadian Securities Course and has 17 years experience working with public companies in the areas of communications, investor relations and legal administration. Ms. Parikh is currently Vice President, Corporate Secretary for Plata Latina Minerals and Newcastle Gold Ltd. and was also Vice President, Corporate Secretary for Augusta Resource Corporation prior to its acquisition.
Director of Environmental and Permitting
Mr. Pappas has a distinguished career in the field of environmental management and permitting. Mr. Pappas recently held the position of Director of Environmental Affairs for Romarco Minerals Inc. where he was instrumental in directing the federal and state permitting of the Haile Gold Mine; the first gold mine permitted east of the Mississippi in the last 20 years. He was previously the Environmental Manager of the Climax Mine and was Permit Coordinator for Barrick’s Cortez Gold Mines. In addition, he has held several Senior Environmental Engineer positions with Pacificorp, Plateau Mining and Santa Fe Pacific Gold. Mr. Pappas holds a B.Sc. degree in Geology and Business Administration. He is recognized as a leader in his field and has won numerous awards including: the 2003 “Best of the Best” Award - awarded by the Department of Interior’s Office of Surface Mining in recognition for extraordinary personal commitment and outstanding contribution for the reclamation success at the Castle Gate Mine and the 2003 “Excellence in Surface Coal Mining Reclamation” Award.
Vice President, Investor Relations and Communications
Susan is a seasoned investor relations executive, and was most recently Vice President, Investor Communications at Barrick Gold Corporation following a series of increasingly senior roles since 2007. Prior to Barrick, Susan also has 25 years of experience analyzing and covering large and small cap precious metals equities, respectively, for several major Canadian investment banks.
